Seeds of Hope Gala

In 2020 the National Alliance for Mental Illness (NAMI) NYC’s Seeds of Hope Gala was virtual as in-person events were cancelled nation-wide due to the pandemic. Using NAMI’s community portraits and a soft rainbow palette was a reminder to invitees that the event may be online but it’s no less important or fun — and that we can still connect with others through our screens.

The client preferred an illustrative approach and in the chosen concept the faceted art, neon colors, and geometric type were meant as a sort of retro call back to a futuristic style. In the printed pieces there was a spot gloss on the hand with the globe as well that made it beautifuly pop out of the matte background.

“Working with Mika has been an outstanding experience as she turned our vision into reality through her intuitive design work. Additionally, there is an ease of working with her to produce a beautiful final result.”

An invitation package with a die-cut design and pocket where all the interior mini flyers, rsvp card and rsvp envelope all fit snugly in order of importance and were easily identified through color coding. The flap arrow die-cut paired with the imagery underscored the concept of the event.
